Litter picking on the heath - next one postponed

In the current circumstances with the virus we are cancelling all litter picks until further notice. We will notify you when they resume but please watch this page or our social media.

Teas and coffees for volunteer litter pickers !

Help keep Therfield Heath tidy by joining in our friendly, safe community litter pick on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 10am at the Heath cafe.

Everyone who joins us will be offered a free tea or coffee to thank you courtesy of our friends at the Heath Cafe.

Therfield Heath and Greens is a special place and we can all help to keep it free of litter.  The Friends of the Heath together with the Heath Cafe and other community groups are organising a safe, socially distanced litter pick every month from November 2020 onwards.

We'll provide all the equipment you need to safely collect litter from the Heath and dispose of it.  We'll meet at the Heath Cafe and disperse across the Heath in small groups, focusing on those areas which need our time the most.  When you return to the Heath cafe you can enjoy a warming tea or coffee as a well earned reward for your efforts!

See our Friends of the Heath Facebook page for more details and updates prior to the event or contact us using the Contact Form.  Look for the Friends of the Heath team at the Heath Cafe - we'll be welcoming litter pickers between 10:00 & 11:00 although how long you spend litter picking is up to you.

Some of our previous litter picks...

We had a very successful litter pick on Therfield Heath on Sunday 1st November from 10am -12noon. Twenty four willing volunteers walked across the Heath collecting up litter.

These volunteers were a variety of members and non members and included Robert Inwood, Mayor of Royston, and Clare Swarbrick, Chair of The Conservators of Therfield Heath & Greens. Three other conservators took part too, along with folk of all ages.

The volunteers were rewarded with a hot drink for their heroic efforts. The hot drink was generously donated by The Heath Cafe.

Many who took part said they had enjoyed themselves whilst giving their time to help the heath to continue to be a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy.

We plan to make this a monthly event the date at present for the next one is Sunday 6th December 2020.
